Using up my last day's holiday so was hunting for somewhere where the tide was inviting and there were people about and stuck my nose in at Cooden ... must have been 12 or more on the water with 2-3 more rigging up as I arrived.

Consencus was 4.2 - 4.7m so went for my 2006 4.7m Combat and plugged into a 2005 Tabou Pocket Wave 78 (special thanks to Bob @ www.4boards.co.uk ) and ventured into fully uncharted territory for me ... being more used to front door sized boards and huge sails

The rip was pretty strong, and I spent a couple hours or so messing about on the inside trying to get a feel for the board / sail and to re-educate myself to stop pushing on the back foot so hard

I managed to get some 'short' rides in, and managed to get some jumps going out, in between times though i was busy making a case for 'L' plates to be mandatory for people on new kit discovering new skill deficiencies

Sunny, windy, not too cold either and I spent a fair amount of time 'below decks' ... only shame was the strength of the rip, but as a positive should be drawn from the day, my legs got a pretty good workout walking kit against the current

Wind was filling in and more people were turning up as i hurredly made an escape ... hadn't altered the clock in the van and the missus was due to go to work an hour earlier than i'd figured to be the case ... I think that I'll like the PW 78 but I think it'll be a relationship needing a little work to gain understanding, and it looks like it'll all have to come from me
